new year beggars.

a while ago i blogged about authentic Beggar's Chicken. well, we went there again on new year's day!

but before that, some batik painting @ Pusat Kraftangan (Craft Centre).

the entrance, looks shody but i bet they're earning tons from their batik shop.

eh?? i thought we're in malaysia lol.

this is how they make a living.

found this pretty lil thing there haha..cantik!!!

me and my raw batik.

tried the same photo-taking technique again..hahaha ok it's getting cliche i know.

hard @ work...

armed with brushes and water colour paints - almost done!

and i chose pink!
batik painting is not as hard as it seems, the outlines are made of wax so very easy to handle. the only hard part was trying to blend the colours.

haha i liked kim's one.

ok time for lunch!
the restaurant, or rather the HOUSE that sold Beggar's chicken was just down the road. haha yes, the oh-so-famous restaurant was in someone's house. lol welcome to malaysia.

and this junk truck was waiting for us right outside the house. -_-"

the fish was incredible. it LOOKS exactly like a fish, but it's actually made of some vegetarian ngo-hiong thinggie. haha cool eh?

ok sorry i was really hungry so i forgot about taking pics until halfway through lunch.
from left to right: huge duck, fake fish, and chicken remnants.

busy eating again lol.
other dishes: oatmeal prawns, ngo-hiong, tanghun, pork leg.

and finally my favourite melon soup! yumyum.
the soup is literally cooked in the melon and you can scrape the sides.

ok so i'm a lousy foodie, i only know how to eat =P i forgot to get the name and address of the place, but if you're interested do let me know! it's somewhere along Danga Bay and reservations for the dishes (yes, the ingredients have to be reserved) must be made 2 days in advance.

the whole chicken is about RM33 while the rest of the 6 dishes added up to a total RM273 meal for 11 of us. not too bad i guess?

and if you must know, the batik painting is RM15 per piece, exclusive of framing haha.
